Privacy

The short version

• You can read lessons, techniques and prompts without signing up.
• An account is optional. It only exists to save your learning progress.
• No ads, no third-party trackers, and we never sell or rent your data.
• You can delete your account, and the data tied to it, at any time.

What we store if you create an account

• Account details: your name and email address. If you sign up with email and password, we store a securely hashed version of your password, never the password itself. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your name, email address and a Google account identifier.
• Learning data: lessons you’ve started or completed, quiz and exercise results, XP, streaks, achievements, daily challenges, bookmarked lessons and favorite prompts.
• Playground history: prompts you run in the Playground while signed in (and the AI response, if AI is enabled), so you can find them again.
• Preferences you choose in your settings.

Cookies and local storage

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (a random session token, valid for up to 30 days, removed when you sign out). Google sign-in uses a short-lived cookie to protect the sign-in flow. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser’s local storage and never leaves your device. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.

AI features

Some Playground features can send your prompt to an AI model. When this is enabled, the prompt text you submit is sent from our server to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. Your password and account details are not included. Please don’t put sensitive personal information in prompts. To prevent abuse, AI requests are rate-limited, which involves briefly processing your IP address or account ID.

Emails

We only email you when you ask us to, for example a password-reset link. These emails are sent through our email provider (Resend). We don’t send marketing emails.

Who else processes data

Besides our hosting and database infrastructure, data is processed only by the services named above: Google (if you choose Google sign-in), Anthropic (if you use AI features) and Resend (for emails you request). Each receives only what it needs for that purpose.

Your choices

• Update your name, password and preferences in Settings.
• Delete your account in Settings. This permanently removes your account along with your progress, bookmarks, favorites and Playground history.
• Clear your browser’s local storage at any time to reset your theme preference.

Children

Promptly is suitable for learners of all ages, but accounts are intended for people old enough to consent to online services where they live. Younger learners can use everything without an account.
